Unveiling the Literary Legacy: The Biography of Jun Lisondra
BACKGROUND OF THE AUTHOR
John Magne Lisondra is a self-taught artist from the Philippines who graduated in 2007 from NORSU-G with a BS in computer science—a somewhat different degree. When he was fourteen years old, he began painting during his sophomore year in high school. Boy Velara, a Negros Oriental native painter, provided him with inspiration for his landscape works. Boy Velara chose to paint after seeing his father's three landscape paintings, which greatly inspired him. The colors, forms, brush strokes and it really seems natural.
He slept late at night and began training after school. He was desperate to achieve his goals. It wasn't quite that simple. The process of learning must be followed in order to become proficient at anything. Learning how to blend colours, apply brushstrokes, and construct compositions is a process that requires patience and lack of quick cuts.
He enjoyed painting commission pieces as well as landscapes of the Philippines. He also painted portraits. The paintings by Caravaggio, Rembrandt, da Vinci, and Amorsolo were his favourites.
In 2009, he travelled to Manila at someone's invitation to work. In 2010, he began participating in art contests in Manila alongside Bernie Jay and his pal Froilan. He won first place in the Amiya Raya On-the-Spot Painting Competition in 2011 and has since continued to compete in events in the hopes of winning more prizes. But many times he failed until in 2012 he won as Grand prize in Maningning Miclat Art Award and Second Place winner in DFA-ASEAN Philippines Painting Competition last August 2013 and two finalists in AAP Annual Art Competions from 2013 and 2014. Currently he has over 500,000 subscribers on youtube.
For John Magne, painting is his life. Life without brushes and paints is just like a body without hands, a mountain without trees and river without fish. Art
However, he was unsuccessful for a long time until 2012, when he was awarded the Grand Prize in the Maningning Miclat Art Award, placed second in the DFA-ASEAN Philippines Painting Competition in August 2013, and made it to the finals of the AAP Annual Art Competition in 2013 and 2014. He currently has more than 500,000 YouTube subscribers.
Painting is John Magne's life. A body without hands, a mountain without trees, and a river without fish are all analogous to life without brushes and paints. Art is the reflection of an artist's heart and mind.
